Regulation of the grant "Antoni Benaiges"

 

                                           RESEARCH GRANT "Antoni Benaiges"

 

Article 1. Purpose
This call is driven by the International Federation of Modern School Movements, organized in collaboration with the Benaiges School Association and the “Movimiento Cooperativo de Escuela Popular”. Its purpose is to reward and financially support projects on the Freinet pedagogy conducted by young researchers in education, teachers in any educational levels.

 

Article 2. Modalities.
These projects can answer three different modalities:
a) financial aid to the development of research projects, either from the beginning or continuation of an investigation already initiated.
b) Financial support for the publication of research conducted.
c) Financial support for training practices in Freinet schools and Freinet pedagogy centers,   duration of three months.

 

Article 3. Research projects.

To be accepted and taken into consideration projects must:
1. Be original
2. Be about Freinet pedagogy, either from a historical point of view, with a theoretical approach or analyzing their current practice.
3. Be presented in Spanish, English or French
4. Have an extension comprised between 30 and 150 pages, with an initial summary of no more than 4,000 characters (including spaces).

 

Article 4. Publication of research
To be accepted and taken into consideration projects must:
1. Be original and unpublished.

2. Be about Freinet pedagogy, either from a historical point of view, with a theoretical approach or analyzing their current practice.

3. Be original
4. Be presented in Spanish, English or French.
5. Have a minimum length of 50 pages with an initial summary of 4.000 characters (including spaces)

 

Article 5. Training practices
To be accepted and taken into consideration, proposals for training practices must:
1. Have a project explained in no more than 50 pages, with the corresponding theoretical justification and an estimate of the economic cost that would entail.
2. Have a letter from the movement or national group of the candidate that endorses his candidacy.
3. Be accompanied by a letter of acceptance from the center where practices would be made.
4. Commit to develop a report of practices of not less than one hundred pages that will be published.

 

Article 6. Article 6.Submitting Applications
To present a project
 benaigesfimem@gmail.com with the subject: Research Grant "Antoni Benaiges" along with a curriculum vitae including name, address and telephone number of the candidate (one for each person, in case of collective authorship) and the letter of acceptance in the case of proposal for training practices.

You can attach letters of recommendation from personalities, entities or relevant institutions on the area, in any of the modalities (those from movements of popular school will especially be valued). The grant or aid will be granted annually and once per person.
The deadline for receipt of originals will be  first march

 

Article 7. Economic Endowment
The grant offers a maximum amount of 2,000 euros which can be assigned to reward one or more projects and in any modalities not being necessary to spend the full amount among all the rewards and it is also possible that none of the projects gets a reward. The amount will be related to the project budget and the cost of living in the place of project development.
The remaining amount, if any, will be reserved for the next call for the scholarship.

 

Article 8. Criteria
The academic relevance of the proposal, originality and innovative factor, the recommendations provided, the quality of the theoretical foundation and the solvency of the trajectory of the authors will be especially valued in all modalities

 

Article 9. Monitoring of the winning projects
In the case of research to develop awarded, once the decision of the jury is known, half of the amount awarded will be paid. Within a period designated by the jury in accordance with the characteristics of the project awarded (but in any case not longer than one year),  a document tracking research developed (no more than 20 pages) must be presented, showing evidence of the use of prize. After the presentation of this evidence, the remaining half will be paid.

 

In the case of rewarding the publication of an investigation, the organizing group of the awards will follow the publication process, during which the allocated amount will be paid.

 

In the case of training practices, once the decision of the jury is known, half of the amount awarded will be paid. Then, within a period designated by the jury in function of the proposed practice (but in any case not longer than one year), a report of practices should be presented, showing evidence of their profit. After the presentation of this evidence, the remaining half will be paid.

In the case of any teacher who follows a training course in any national movement, the scholarship would consider the trip and maintenance and the movement of the country where the practice is done should offer support.

An amount will be set aside for the publication, with the aim of spreading the practice of Freinet Pedagogy in the world

 

Article 10. Jury
The jury will be formed by members of Benaiges School Association, “Movimiento Cooperativo de Escuela Popular” and/or International Federation of Modern School Movements, and designated by the same entities. The jury will be composed among 3 and 6 members, one of which will act as secretary.

The jury's decision is final and can declare the prize void. 

 

Article 11. Bases
Attendance at this scholarship implies acceptance of these rules and the decisions of the jury in everything that it is not foreseen in the present.
